Albuquerque Tours

One thing that no visitor to Albuquerque should miss out on doing during their stay is leaving the city behind and getting out into the beautiful rugged countryside of the famous Sandia Mountains. Once you leave the modern roads of Albuquerque behind, you are really in Pioneer territory, and although there are plenty of mountain resorts and spa hotels in the area where you can retreat to in the evening, the sheer beauty of the wilderness will entice you into spending at least one night in a tent during your stay so that you can really get back to nature.

There are a wider variety of different Albuquerque tours to choose from, and if you have the time, you should pack in as many as you can. If you don’t have time to leave the city, then at least go on a walking tour through the Old Town of Albuquerque, as the guides will tell you plenty of entertaining stories about the history of the city, along with pointing out the various interesting buildings and giving you a great deal of insight into the region.

One of the best sights near Albuquerque is the Rio Grande, one of the largest rivers in North America. You will find that there are a wide variety of different ways to experience the majesty of this ancient waterway. From white water rafting on some of the wilder tributaries in the mountains through to relaxing river cruises in luxury boats where you can take advantage of the sun with a bit of sunbathing on deck, or simply stare in wonder at the beautiful landscapes that lie along its banks.

A trip to an Indian reservation will allow you to get to known a little more about the local history of the indigenous people, and there are plenty of opportunities to pick up some great souvenirs of your visit to Albuquerque at the trading post on the reservation. Some of the reservations include a special camping area where you can take part in some of the old rituals, and even sleep in a Wigwam – albeit one with a much more pleasant interior to that which was used a century ago.
